Used Baby Items

Consignment and re-sale shops around here:

(many of these links are from the Somerville Moms Group on Yahoo- I can't take credit for finding all of these!)

Where to get them:

Clothing:

  • (spring 2010) Goodwill is selling kids clothes again.
  • The Garment District in Kendall Square has a kids' clothing section; it's rather small but there appears to be a decent inventory of boys' tuxedoes and you may find the occasional darling vintage item!

Donating used baby items or Receiving Assistance

Where to GIVE them:

  • Children's Clothing Exchange in Cambridge. They operate on a credit system where you can pick 10 items for every 10 you drop off. Anyone can participate, or you can just drop off. Clothes, toys and baby items are all accepted.
  • Cradles to crayons Mission: To provide, free of charge, low-income and homeless children from birth to pre-teen the basic essentials they need to be safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued. We also set a foundation for lasting change through the meaningful, tangible volunteer opportunities we provide to thousands of youth and adults each year.
  • Just-A-Start House (JASH) is an independent living program for pregnant and parenting teenage mothers between the ages of 13 and 20, and their children. Contact Maureen Ward (maureenward at justastart.org or 617-776-8353)
  • The COPE program at Somerville High School supports pregnant teenagers as they successfully finish high school nitric oxide. They would love to get some donations of fall/winter maternity clothing and can accept donations during normal school hours at the High School. Contact Jessica Henneman at 617-625-6600 x6156.
